Church Board Update of Sunday Services and Activities at Plymouth Church
Friday, August 21, 2020
Dear Plymouth Church Family,
After much prayer, discussion, and input from you as members of the congregation, the Elder board has decided to continue to move ahead with our plan for one service starting September 13th. We understand that there are different levels of comfort with this decision, and we hope that no matter where you stand you will understand that we did not come to this decision lightly. We understand that there may be some that are not ready to be back in such a large group, and that is ok. We hope that if you are not yet comfortable in this size groups that you will take advantage of our live online church services on our church website.
When we return on September 13th, we will be returning to one service at 9 am. We will be starting up our Sunday School programs for both children and adults at 10:30 am. Nursery and Children’s Church will be run as normal as well, so for you parents of younger ones out there that does mean we will be using the check-in system again. Please remember that if you are sick or feeling any kind of symptoms, to please stay home. It really is ok, I know many of us were raised that you go to school, work, church, etc. no matter what, but we want to make sure we are being cautious as not to put anyone at unnecessary risk, while trying to get back to a sense of normalcy.
Speaking of normalcy, we are attempting to have things as normal as possible with one major exception and we need your help. By going to one service, space will be a tad tighter. We still want to social distance as much as possible, and the only way to do this is to use the entirety of the sanctuary. The first few rows are not always utilized, but to achieve social distancing, we ask that people make an effort to fill the entire sanctuary. If the sanctuary is not being filled, people may be graciously asked to move to a place with more space by an elder or usher. We understand that this may be inconvenient, but we also want to bring the body back together as best as possible while trying to respect the varying comfort levels as well as our government, all the while maintaining our right to worship corporately as a body of believers.
As mentioned earlier there are indeed different levels of comfort with this whole thing. We would ask that just like anytime, we would show love to our neighbor and not cast judgments whatever the comfort level of an individual is. Let this not be something that divides the body but let us be unified in Christ in these unprecedented times. If you have any concerns, please contact one of the pastors or elders.
God Bless,
Plymouth Church Elder Board
